About this deal

Content on this site is not intended to substitute for advice given by medical practitioner, pharmacist, or other licensed health-care professional. The Glenury Royal distillery was closed in 1983, so those particular casks at the heart of this Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare edition must have been at least 35 years old. Inspired by the Highlands and the TV show "Outlander," the whisky boasts notes of vanilla, butterscotch, and oak spice. Exceptionally balanced with layers of creamy vanilla sweetness on the nose, rolling waves of waxy citrus, rich malt and tropical fruit flavours on the palate, and the unmistakable lingering finish of Port Ellen maritime smokiness.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Pittyvaich was released in 2021 as part of the continuing Ghost and Rare series celebrating the rare and lost distilleries that contribute to the Johnnie Walker brand's globe-bestriding success. This beverage has a distinctive flavour, which is often described as rich, dark, and almost creamy — a great whisky for connoisseurs. As with the previous bottlings (which focussed on Brora and Port Ellen), the rare whisky from this lost distillery sits at the core of the blend. Made with a variety of extremely well-aged malts, the overriding flavour is one of toffee and barley, with hints of peat smoke adding lovely complexity. Glenury Royal gives this whisky notes of sumptuous orchard fruits, sweet apple and delicate apricot. Whisky offers a unique, world-class blend of Scottish Lowland single malts with a natural cask strength of 50.

Discover "The Sassenach Bundle" – a perfect blend of Sassenach Whisky and Sassenach Wild Scottish Gin. Johnnie Walker Blue Label Glenury Royal is the third in the series of special releases crafted using irreplaceable "ghost" whiskies from a small number of iconic distilleries that closed many years ago.

It was in 1908 that the Johnnie Walker name was first put on bottles, after the Managing Director, James Stevenson, rebranded the range. Whiskies from two other "ghost" distilleries, Cambus and Brora are also included, alongside a host of five exceptionally rare single malts selected from the high-quality Johnnie Walker Blue Label reserves.

They mixed whiskies from five famous regions in Scotland—Islay, Speyside, Campbeltown, Highlands, and Lowlands. A handcrafted blend using just eight of the rarest whiskies from the unparalleled Johnnie Walker reserves of maturing Scotch, at the heart of this limited edition are exceptional single malts from the “ghost” distillery of Pittyvaich, that closed in 1993 after only 18 years of life.Their dedication to their craft enables them to build structure, form and meaning into every sip, like artists composing a masterpiece.
