Your adoption will assist People's Trust for Endangered Species (PTES), a registered animal conservation charity. The organisation was first established in 1961 in the UK, but now operates in more than 100 countries and has over 5 million members around the world. The most iconic of the sea turtles, the green turtle also has the most numerous and widely dispersed nesting sites of the seven species.These spectacular animals are threatened with extinction worldwide, and are rapidly declining in many parts of the world. You will receive updates of your adopted turtle to let you know when and how often we have encountered it nesting and/or feeding in the area. With your support, more corals that have been previously destroyed can be saved by growing them in a nursery before transplanting them back to the natural reefs. Although this species now shows signs of recovery thanks to a long-term, dedicated multinational conservation effort, its population is still only a small fraction of what it was when it was first discovered in the 1940s. Turtles are not found in the Arctic or Antarctic oceans as these environments are far too cold for reptiles.
